JAIME
DE ARMIÑÁN
Madrid, 1927
|
“Modestamente, la televisión no es culpable de nada.
Es un espejo en el que nos miramos todos, y al mirarnos nos reflejamos”
Born on the 9th of March, 1927 in Madrid. Son of a theatre actress,
as was his grandmother. His grandfather was a playwrighter and his
father was four times a civil governor during the Republic. His
first steps in the world of art, go back to his work as columnist
in publications such as Fotos and Dígame, while starting
his incursions in the field of theatrical drama by writing Eva sin
manzana (1953), Sinfonía acabada (1955) or Nuestro fantasma.
He is well known by his accomplishments during the 1970s, Mi Querida
Señorita (1971) which was nominated to the Oscar or El Nido,
also nominated (1980). He stands out when he faces unusual issues
as in Stico (1984). He later directed Al otro lado del túnel
(1994) and El Palomo Cojo (1995). It is also worth emphasising his
work as writer and author of series as Cuentos imposibles and Juncal.
Very critical with the current state of television, Jaime de Armiñán
states that TV during the 60s and 70s was much richer for literary
quality.
